Why an air conditioning service in Brisbane is not the same as a clean.

There’s a lot of confusion around what an air conditioning “service” actually includes—and to be fair, that’s not the customer’s fault.

A big reason for this is how some companies advertise very low-priced services, only to upsell additional work once they’re on site. It creates the impression that everything should be included from the start.

In reality, a standard service and a deep clean are two completely different jobs.

So what does a standard air conditioning service cover?

A service is focused on making sure your system is operating correctly and safely from a mechanical and technical perspective.

This typically includes:

  • Checking electrical components
  • Testing system performance and temperatures
  • Inspecting overall operation
  • Flushing drains
  • Cleaning filters and basic external components

It’s about keeping your system running reliably and picking up issues early.

What does an air conditioning deep clean involve?

A clean is focused on what’s happening inside the unit from a build up, dirt and mould perspective—the things you usually can’t see.

Over time, systems naturally build up:

  • Mould
  • Bacteria
  • Dust and grime inside the coil and fan

A proper clean involves:

  • Pulling the unit apart
  • Thoroughly cleaning the internal coil
  • Cleaning the fan barrel and internal components
  • Removing mould and contamination

This is a more labour-intensive process and goes well beyond a standard service.

Why are they two different services?

These are two different types of work with different time, tools, and processes involved.

When you see cheap $99 deals where everything gets bundled into one low upfront price, it usually means one of two things:

  • The clean isn’t being done properly, or
  • The extra work gets added on later and you'll be upsold something

At Blade Air Conditioning, we prefer to be upfront about it from the start.

And here's what we often find.

It’s very common for systems to be running fine mechanically, but still have internal mould or build-up.

If we come across that during a service, we’ll show you and explain your options—no pressure, no surprises.

This is why we recommend doing both a service and a clean in the one booking.

If your system hasn’t been properly looked at in a while, the best approach is to book a service and a clean together.

That way you get:

  • A system that’s working properly
  • Cleaner, healthier air
  • Everything handled in one visit
